Lake Pass

Privacy Policy

Last updated 4 October 2026

You can use all of Lake Pass without an account. If you choose to sign in, we collect your email address and a rough record of the areas you search, and we share what people are looking for with marinas — as counts and trends, never as your name or address.

Lake Pass is a free directory of marinas, boat rentals and watersports outfitters in the United States, published by Alphabetski Inc.

If you don’t sign in

We collect nothing.

Browsing, searching and opening a marina all work signed out, and nothing you do is sent to us. There is no analytics SDK and no advertising in the app.

If you sign in

Signing in uses Sign in with Apple. We never see your Apple password, and Apple lets you hide your real address behind a private relay — that works fine here.

Once you are signed in we store:

You can sign out at any time from the account button, which stops all of it.

What we share with marinas

Lake Pass is free because marinas pay for visibility and for knowing what demand on their water looks like. What they receive is aggregated — how many people searched a lake, which boat types they filtered for, how many opened a given listing. It does not include your email address, your name, or any identifier that points at you.

We do not sell lists of individual users, and we do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.

Location

If you tap “Use my location,” the app asks iOS for your location and uses it on your device to sort listings by distance and to centre the map.

Your location is never transmitted, never stored beyond the current session, and never shared. Granting location access is entirely optional — the search field accepts any lake, town or marina name, and every feature works without it. You can change or revoke the permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.

The marina database

The directory itself ships inside the app. Searching, filtering and browsing happen entirely on your device and require no network request to us.

Images loaded from marina websites

Photos and logos on each listing are loaded directly from that operator’s own public website rather than from us. As with opening any web page, the operator’s web server — and any content delivery network they use — will see the network request, which includes your device’s IP address. We do not control and do not receive those logs. This is the only circumstance in which using Lake Pass causes a request to a third party.

Links out to marinas

Tapping Call, Directions, or a marina’s website hands off to your phone app, Apple Maps, or Safari. Once you leave Lake Pass, the privacy policy of that business or service applies, not ours.

Tracking and advertising

Lake Pass contains no advertising, no third-party analytics, no tracking pixels and no software development kits from other companies. We do not follow you across other apps or websites, which is why the app never shows an App Tracking Transparency prompt.

Keeping and deleting your information

Search and tap records are kept for two years and then deleted. Signing out stops any further collection. To have your account and everything attached to it deleted outright, email us at the address below and we will remove it.

Children

Lake Pass is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and signing in is never required to use the app.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Lake Pass introduces accounts or collects any information, we will update this policy before that version ships and will describe exactly what is collected and why. The date above will change.
